Sartell clinic first in Minnesota to offer Valeda® photobiomodulation (PBM), a noninvasive, in-office option for select dry AMD patients.
PineCone Vision Center (PCVC) announced today that it has acquired the Valeda® Light Delivery System, a clinic-based photobiomodulation (PBM) device intended to improve visual acuity in select patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD). PCVC is the first eye clinic in Minnesota to offer Valeda PBM treatment.
Dry AMD is a common retinal condition and a leading cause of vision impairment in older adults. Valeda PBM delivers controlled light therapy to the retina during brief, in-office sessions and may offer a new option for appropriately selected patients.
“Macular degeneration affects independence—driving, reading, and recognizing faces,” said Dr. Nicholas Colatrella, co-owner of PineCone Vision Center. “We’re excited to bring Valeda not only to Central Minnesota, but to Minnesota as a whole. For the right dry AMD patient, it offers a noninvasive, needle-free, in-office option that may help improve vision and function.
