authority.md, a new marketplace launched in April 2026, sells downloadable “thinking frameworks” derived from the documented decision-making of specific operators: Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, Arianna Huffington, Charlie Munger, Marie Curie, and hundreds more. Each framework is engineered to make an LLM reason like that person — with their specific mental models, their contrarian views, their refusals, their style of disagreement — rather than the averaged-out, consensus-pleasing default that “helpful and balanced” produces.

Why “helpful and balanced” became the problem
Large language models are trained via reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) — a process that rewards responses judged as useful, non-offensive, and reasonable. The result is frontier models that default to consensus framings: the mainstream investment advice, the mainstream productivity advice, the mainstream founder playbook.
For transactional tasks — writing a Slack reply, summarising a PDF, fixing a typo — this is ideal. For strategic thinking, it is a trap. A founder asking “should I raise a Series A now?” gets the textbook answer. A CMO asking “how should I reposition?” gets the Porter-diamond summary everyone else gets. The advice is technically fine. It is also utterly generic.
