Vancouver Film School (VFS) is expanding its ongoing In-Production Bootcamp series with acclaimed actor, director, and Emmy-winning producer Gil Bellows, who will lead three exclusive Scene Study weekends at VFS’s Film Production Centre this fall.
Following the success of Bellows’ previous Scene Study workshops at VFS, the actor and filmmaker will return to campus for an expanded fall series designed to give aspiring and established actors an intensive, hands-on opportunity to develop their craft in a professional film environment.
The three-day experiences will take place September 25-27, October 16-18, and November 6-8, with each weekend combining scene study workshops, live direction, professional feedback, and on-set performances.

ABOUT THE SCENE STUDY WORKSHOPS:
Each Scene Study weekend is structured to mirror the collaborative nature of professional film production.
The experience begins Friday evening with an introductions and meet-and-greet session, giving participants the opportunity to connect with Bellows and fellow actors. On Saturday, Advanced Acting Participants take part in intensive scene study workshops, working through selected scenes under Bellows’ direction and receiving professional feedback on their performances.
The weekend concludes Sunday with on-set performances of the final scenes, allowing participants to put their work into practice in a professional production environment. Participants can register individually or with an acting partner, but solo participants will be paired with another actor by VFS. Participants are required to submit a short audition tape and have prior acting training and/or industry experience.

With an international career spanning more than two decades, Bellows has established himself as a versatile actor, producer, screenwriter, and director.
His extensive acting credits include the Academy Award-nominated classic The Shawshank Redemption, as well as Ally McBeal, American Gods, The Handmaid’s Tale, Patriot, and the reboot of The Twilight Zone. As a producer, Bellows won a Primetime Emmy Award for the HBO biographical drama Temple Grandin.
