Digital Employees execute defined operational tasks within Logi-Sys, helping freight forwarders expand capacity while keeping people in control.
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Softlink Global, a global provider of freight and logistics technology, has introduced Logi-Sys Digital Employees, a new initiative bringing role-based agentic AI into freight forwarding operations.
Unlike conventional AI assistants that primarily provide information, Digital Employees are being developed to carry out defined operational responsibilities within Logi-Sys, Softlink’s Intelligent Cloud ERP Platform for Freight & Logistics.
The initiative represents the next stage in Softlink’s vision of moving enterprise software from a System of Truth to a System of Action, where software not only records and manages business information but also performs parts of the work.
From AI Assistance to Operational Execution
Freight forwarding businesses rely on experienced teams to manage shipments, documentation, customer communication and operational exceptions. Even with modern ERP systems, many processes continue to require repeated manual effort.
Digital Employees are being developed to change this relationship by combining AI capabilities with freight-specific business processes, defined responsibilities and controlled execution.|
The initial programme focuses on three operational roles:
• Import Freight Shipment Executive: Designed to prepare shipment information, support transaction processing and identify missing or conflicting details.
• Customs Documentation Executive: Initially focused on Indian customs processes, supporting documentation preparation, information checks and exception handling.
• Customer Service Executive: Designed to assist with routine shipment enquiries, prepare responses and escalate matters requiring human attention.
Each Digital Employee is intended to operate within approved workflows and authority limits, with human review where required.
A New Approach to Business Growth
For freight forwarders, the potential extends beyond reducing repetitive tasks.
As shipment volumes increase, companies often need additional operational staff, office space and administrative resources. Digital Employees offer the possibility of expanding transaction-handling capacity without increasing these costs at the same rate.
This business opportunity attracted attention at the LogX 2026 network conference in Khao Lak, Thailand, where Kunal Maheshwari, Chief Growth Officer of Softlink Global, delivered a keynote presentation on Digital Employees to an international audience of freight forwarding professionals.
Following the presentation, a freight forwarder from the UAE shared how the concept could change the traditional relationship between shipment growth and staffing requirements.
“The interesting part was that he immediately saw the business opportunity beyond automation,” said Kunal Maheshwari. “For growing freight forwarders, the real value could be the ability to handle higher shipment volumes without having to expand their teams and overheads at the same pace.”
Building Accountability into Agentic AI
A key principle behind the Digital Employee initiative is that AI should operate with defined responsibilities and clear limits.
Digital Employees are being developed as part of Logi-Sys, allowing AI capabilities to work within the platform’s connected operational environment rather than as isolated tools.
Softlink is progressing through the development and evaluation of the initial roles. Supported functions and commercial availability will depend on product testing and release readiness.
