Ragg’s Supply Celebrates 35 Years

Haltom City, Texas May 26, 2026 (Issuewire.com) This year marks the 35th anniversary of Raggs Supply. Founded in 1991 by Ron Robinson, it was taken over by Melanie McCray in 2018 and continues the tradition.

Raggs Supply serves local vendors in the shaved ice and snow cone business. The basic product is block ice, which is needed to properly operate commercial shaved ice machines. While other suppliers sell block ice, its usually not genuine block ice. Most block ice is actually compressed block ice. It starts with smaller ice cubes which are then compressed and refrozen to form a large block.

Premium shaved ice vendors prefer genuine solid block ice because it works better in commercial shaved ice machines. These machines are capable of producing soft ice shavings that resemble snow in their texture.

In addition to block ice, Raggs also offers most of the other supplies a vendor needs to operate a snow cone or shaved ice business. This includes syrups, serving supplies, and work supplies.

Raggs carries a wide selection of syrups. They have hundreds of different flavors and several different brands.

The goal at Raggs Supply is to offer the widest selection of syrups at the best prices, while providing top quality service.

While they originally began as a local supplier, Raggs has expanded and now serves vendors all over the country through mail order.

Melanie McCray, owner of Raggs Supply, started out by operating her own shaved ice truck as a business with her son. Over the years they won several awards at the Food Truck Championship of Texas. She brings her experience to Raggs Supply, sharing a wealth of information to both new and seasoned operators.

While the business is largely wholesale to vendors, Raggs welcomes retail customers with small orders.

Raggs Supply delivers locally to vendors within a 30 mile radius, but also ships nationwide.
